Beyond Healing: Reiki as a Spiritual Threshold

Christine Renee, Isabel Wells, and Shantel Ochoa Season 3 Episode 1

Send Us a Message!

What if everything you thought you knew about Reiki was just scratching the surface? In this eye-opening conversation, Isabel and Shantel explore the profound spiritual threshold that Reiki represents—far beyond its common reputation as simply a healing modality.

Drawing from their extensive experience as practitioners and teachers, they challenge the widespread misconception that Reiki is a separate healing energy that can be turned on and off. Instead, they reveal its true nature as the universal life force energy that constitutes everything in existence. This fundamental shift in perspective explains why so many spiritual seekers report Reiki as their first meaningful catalyst for deeper awakening.

In this episode, we explore:

🌕 What 'Universal Life Force' really means
🌖 Reiki as more than a healing energy
🌗 Reiki as a catalyst for spiritual awakening
🌘 The original roots of Reiki in Japanese Buddhism
🌑 How Reiki supports trauma healing without re-triggering
🌒 Developing soul-level discernment through Reiki practice
🌓 Understanding the difference between ego and soul guidance
🌔 Viewing Reiki as a relationship, not just a technique
🌕 Insights for both beginners and advanced Reiki practitioners
🌖 And more!

We are here to help you acknowledge, reconcile and balance your energy so that you can awaken to the whispers of wisdom rising from within. Hello, hello and welcome back to another amazing episode here on the Wisdom Rising podcast. In today's episode, you're joined with myself, isabel Wells, your co-host, and Chantel Ochoa as we dive into how Reiki can be a spiritual threshold here at Moon Rising. Reiki is one of the backbones of what we teach our students and what we bring to the table, and, as we step towards the summer, we're bringing forward a lot of information and insight and personal experience that may or may not align with what you've been taught about Reiki. So, as Christine comes back from her Japan pilgrimage, and as Chantel and I continue to work with our students and our clients. We've started to see a lot of patterns and beliefs surrounding Reiki that we wonder if there's a more aligning way to approach the practice. So if you are struggling to feel a tangible connection with Reiki and you want to dive deeper, this episode is for you From Reiki as a threshold for deeper spiritual awakening to a misunderstanding about if Reiki is just a healing energy or where Reiki comes from, how we can work with it in a more intuitive way, etc. Etc. This conversation is really going to take us deep into Reiki's roots and open our eyes to the original intention, but also the current capacity that Reiki has to help us heal, to help us wake up, and why so many people find Reiki as a starting point on their journey. So many people open up to spirituality and to a new set of perspectives and beliefs and worldviews and to their own healing when they first step into a Reiki class or when they first receive their Reiki attunement, and so we're diving into the whys, hows and what nexts of that experience today. And if you're loving this new direction that we're taking Reiki, or you want to hear all of the amazing takeaways that Christine is bringing back with her from Mount Kurama, where she recently completed a pilgrimage to the birthplace of Reiki.

Speaker 1:

She has a free webinar happening this Thursday at 5 pm Mountain Time, 7 pm Eastern Time, on why did Usui go to Mount Kurama. So she's going to be diving into everything from the roots of Reiki in Japanese Buddhism to everything from the roots of Reiki in Japanese Buddhism. Why Mikawa Sui picked Mount Karama of all of the mountains in the area. Why 21 days? What was his original intention? What energies did he meet with on the mountain? And that's going to open the door to investigate the origins of Reiki, how and why Eastern and Western Reiki divided and what the original Reiki teachings tell us about Reiki as we know it today, and so much more. So if you are really curious to dive deep into the origins of Reiki, to see a new side of this practice and to learn about Christine's top takeaways and lessons and wisdom that she's bringing back with her from Mount Karama, please remember to register for this webinar that's happening on Thursday, May 29th, at 5 pm Mountain Time, 7 pm Eastern Time. The replay will also be available as long as you register at the link and, in addition, if you are interested in taking this to the next level and diving in deep.

Speaker 1:

Christine does have a Reiki Fusion Master Teacher Training starting on June 5th through July 10th. Classes meet on Thursday nights from 5 to 7 pm Mountain Time. And this Master Teacher Training I have to say I have taken Christine's Master Class as a student multiple times and it is unlike any other Master Teacher Training that you will ever get in the Reiki world and I feel like I have a little bit of ability to say that because I've taken a master teacher training many times for many different instructors. And Christine's really stands out because not only does she take you back to the true origins of Reiki, using the most up-to-date research and stories and evidence that we have for the culture and the time in which Reiki was created, but she also takes you through how do we bring that into our modern everyday life? How do we embody Reiki with the culture and the society and the energy that we are currently working with? So this course is for Reiki level two practitioners or Reiki masters who want to retake the training, those who want a deeper understanding of traditional Reiki and what it means to practice Reiki in modern times. So again that Reiki fusion master teacher training is not your typical Reiki masters class Classes start on June 5th and you're going to be given the permission to take the class with beginner's eyes, throughout the old ideas and models that didn't allow you to trust or to use your intuition or to innovate and integrate these teachings into your present day, all while steeping you in that traditional knowledge and teachings and wisdom. So again, classes start on June 5th. Enrollment is now open and the link to enroll is down in the show notes. There are pay in full but also payment plan options so you can choose what fits best for you.

Speaker 1:

And, on that note, as we step into the summer, as we step into June, we are starting to take a different approach. Here at Moon Rising, we are really going to be leaning into allowing our intuitions to take the lead over the summer. When that comes to the topics that we talk about, when we talk about them, what we're bringing forward, how we're showing up all of this, our intuition is really taking the lead and taking the reins over the summer. We'll be sharing about this more in the weeks to come, but be sure to follow us in the moon rising shamanic mystics facebook group if you're interested in learning more and seeing this change, this shift, unfold in real time and if you're feeling that invitation in yourself to reconnect with the wildness in you, to reconnect with the imperfect and the messy, and the real and the authentic and the what's happening right now not the what you wish it would look like if you're ready to let your intuition take the lead, then we invite you to join us as we do the same. So join our Facebook group, find us on YouTube, subscribe to our newsletter All of the links will be in the show notes and we would love for you to join us on this journey as we unfold into our intuitions, and invite you to unfold with us and, in the meantime, I hope that you enjoy today's episode.

Speaker 1:

Let's go to the show. Welcome, welcome to another amazing conversation. Today we're diving into Reiki as a spiritual threshold. Chantel and I have been noticing some really interesting patterns in our work with our clients and our students, and also in ourselves, and we really wanted to dive into this alternative perspective of Reiki that we don't really see much in the spiritual community. So, chantel, do you want to kick us off this morning?

Speaker 2:

Yeah. So I, we, yeah, definitely, like you were saying, just noticing some patterns, conversations, and so last week, when we were talking about what we want to discuss, I thought, you know, this is a great way to introduce different aspects of Reiki and I see it as the threshold, and so with that, it's not removing any other modalities or saying that you can't practice anything else that you are practicing, but what I have noticed is that those who are really that go to the far extreme of and continue to grow in their spirituality tends to have a foundation of Reiki. And so what I've been noticing as this threshold, this gateway that we're talking about, it's like bringing in the oldest element, the oldest energy of healing and having those attunements allowing us to get into a alignment with our soul agreement with our contracts here, with our purpose and releasing anything that no longer serves us. It tends to then lead us to other modalities, whether that's breath work, whether that's plant medicine, if it's, you know, whatever else is out there that people are being drawn to. It's almost like the soul calling starts to happen.

Speaker 2:

But I find the foundation when I ask people like what was the first thing that you did, what was the very first modality and they'll say, well, maybe I started here, but it didn't really catch. And then I started Reiki and then, all of a sudden, all these things started opening up for me. And I'm like I started Reiki and then all of a sudden, all these things started opening up for me and I'm like, oh, it's very interesting. And so I just thought it was a great conversation for us to be able to have and just open up that gateway and see where we go from there Absolutely.

Speaker 1:

And that perspective of it really started with Reiki for me. I love that because I think so many people find Reiki or even find spirituality. Me, I love that because I think so many people find Reiki or even find spirituality. But I find this story really common with Reiki in particular, where you know the storyline is. I had no idea what Reiki is. I just woke up one day and I knew that I needed to take a class or there was a teacher there that I just felt like I needed to take the workshop they were giving and you just kind of find yourself in a Reiki class.

Speaker 1:

And for me, from more of like the philosophical perspective, when we really go back in Reiki's history Usui Reiki Ryoho and Christine has some amazing webinars and podcasts planned on this as she comes back from her pilgrimage for Japan, so I won't spend too much time belaboring this point but Usui Reiki Ryoho wasn't the first quote-unquote Reiki to be practiced, it's just the most famous one. And when we really go back to the origin of Reiki and where it was coming from, it was coming from Japan in this time where Buddhism and for Mikawa Usui, who was a mountain ascetic, this time of really trying to connect with nature, really trying to connect with the energy of all things. And when we look at Reiki right, we learned this in our very first Reiki class that Reiki roughly translates-ish to universal life force energy. Right, that's kind of what we're all taught Reiki means. And what makes me laugh about this is that we kind of glaze over that. Right, we learn that it is universal life force energy. Everybody knows this conceptually, but we rarely take the time to stop and think about what does that actually mean? And what I find is that one of the core I don't want to say misconceptions, because I think it's a stepping stone right on the path. But one of the things that I see people doing is kind of giving Reiki its own embodiment, as if it's this separate energy that's a healing energy, and that's not what Reiki is.

Speaker 1:

Reiki is the energy that is in all things. If you're a shaman, this is saying this is the spirit that is in animistic principles. Right, that everything is alive. It's the energy that flows through all things. And from a scientific perspective, right, we see this with the protons, neutrons and electrons that make up all of the atoms. Right, it is the energy. It is the foundation, it is the spiritual backbone of everything in physical reality.

Speaker 1:

And so I find it really interesting, and a trend that I've been noticing lately is this idea of turning Reiki on or off, or that Reiki is intended only for healing or things like this. And it's like, when we go back to the original intention of Reiki first of all, it was never intended as a healing modality when we really go back to the original core roots it developed out of, like I was saying, japanese Buddhism and Reiki was this pathway of reconnecting with the universal life force, energy, to achieve enlightenment. Healing was kind of like a happy side effect of that, because when you are enlightened, when you are fully aligned, your energy is flowing, there are no blocks, there is no sickness or dis-ease because you are connected and in tune right. Obviously, in the West we have soul contracts and things like that that factor into it, but that general idea behind Reiki was that it was the ability to connect with the energy in all things, to recognize that we are all one, and healing was a side effect of that deep connection. And what I find really interesting is I think a lot of people nowadays are going on their Reiki journey and they feel like they kind of hit this wall of it's not maybe doing as much as they thought, or it helps for a little while but it doesn't get to the deeper issue. And that's when they start looking into other modalities, like you were saying, chantel, and kind of branching out.

Speaker 1:

And for me I do sometimes wonder if a little bit of that feeling of well, but there could be more or maybe something's missing, comes from that fact that we've started seeing Reiki energy as something different than it actually is. It's not its own separate energy. Now you could technically say that things like Karuna Reiki or Holy Fire Reiki that are calling on a specific type of energy are their own energetic strand. But especially if we're looking at Usui Reiki, ryoho, the intention was to connect with the energy of all things, to connect with spirit, to connect that all that is. Whatever word you use to describe that, it was the essence of everything. It wasn't. This is Reiki energy and this isn't it was.

Speaker 1:

Reiki is all, and by connecting to that all that's where we find peace, that's where we find truth, that's where we find healing and as much as there are principles of the traditional Buddhist Reiki practice that I think are limiting for the way that we grew up in the West and the way that our minds work right, like complete detachment from story of you don't get to know what happens in a Reiki session.

Speaker 1:

I don't think that works for us in the West because of how active our minds are. But I do wonder sometimes if that fundamental break from really being able to look at and understand what we are talking about when we say universal life force energy, it's not just a healing energy, it's not something you can turn on or off, it's something that you can be aware of or not aware of. And that's that fundamental shift of we're not always aware of the Reiki energy that's in all things, that is making up all things, and that's the practice of Reiki is coming back into that awareness and remembering our connection to all things. But I think that shift is something that I've really been noticing lately. That's really interesting because I don't know that we really often take the time to fully reflect on what does that actually mean, that universal life force energy? And it kind of starts to take on a life of its own, which I find really interesting.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I love that part because when, especially like when we're teaching level one, right, and we're explaining this to people and you're right, it does there's kind of like this gloss over of what does that actually mean, like there's no depth to it a lot of times, like we don't have a deeper conversation and with it it's like this has literally been with us since the beginning of time, right, like if we are as animus and everything has energy. We operate through this energy. It is our chi, it's our prana, it's all of it. This is literally the energy that operates all things on this planet and so, on a soul level, on an energetic level, it is connecting to that energy that animates us, that moves us, is connecting to that energy that animates us, that moves us, that helps us breathe and live and everything. But when you bring in the title Reiki itself, I think that is kind of what separates it from people understanding that this is universal life force, energy and that we are being attuned to it so that we can channel it on a much deeper level, a more expansive level, so that the healing process can come through, so that we can, as practitioners, provide this as a service to our clients and what I tell my clients is when they're asking what is Reiki, what are you doing?

Speaker 2:

I always tell them I said I turn, I don't turn it on, but I said I Reiki you. But it activates the Reiki inside of you so you can meet the frequency of the energy that I'm providing. So it's awakening their own inner healer. It's awakening the energy within them that a lot of times we don't feel right. Like you're saying. It's, you know, having that awareness all the time. It's turning it on, turning it off, and I think a lot of it is because we are in a, you know, a world of trauma most of the time and when we are in that fight or flight energy within our nervous system and we've gone through so much in our life that we don't look within to feel the energies that are moving and that are helping us to heal, we're so focused, like trauma-based and trauma-focused that we don't look at what's really happening on a deeper level. So when you are brought to a Reiki room and I always find that interesting, like you were saying, when people are like I don't know, I just woke up to the word, or I, you know, just showed up in a Reiki room, and I always tell people it's like it's not a coincidence that you just showed up in a Reiki master room, you know, or just in a Reiki room and having this done, this is really like spiritually led. I believe you know, and most of the time it's because people have already tried everything else out there and they're seeking these different modalities of a deeper healing.

Speaker 2:

And even when I have, I have a client right now. I've been working with her about a year now and she came to me with major chronic pain, like she was pretty much bedridden and very much in pain and now she is living her life and she's out of bed, she's quit most of her meds, like it's amazing her healing. And then she'll still say, well, I wonder if it's Reiki. And I'm like you have been coming for a year. Yes, you have to give some credit to what you are doing with this energy. And look at I go, a year ago you were bedridden and look where you are now You're going to concerts, you're starting to travel again. You know she's having all these different life experiences and even with that, I find it interesting when people still want to bypass what they're doing and don't want to give credit to where credit's due not to me, but to themselves and the energy that they're working with. And it's just. It's like, yeah, look at what we are doing collectively with this energy and how it's lifting the community that it's serving.

Speaker 1:

And you know, I find it so interesting when you bring up that idea of, kind, of the layer of trauma that so many people are walking with. And I think this is kind of another point in favor of mixing modalities with Reiki and using Reiki as a catalyst, because Reiki is of who you are, that you aren't your thoughts, you aren't your mind, you aren't that trauma, you aren't these layers of humanness, that kind of get put on top of our soul, right, you come back into the Reiki that's already within you and so when you step into a session with a practitioner, that's exactly what's happening. It's that process of helping you to remember that truth that's already inside you. And because of how much trauma we carry, because of the many, many, many layers of what life looks like right now, right Of everything from your childhood experiences and your limiting beliefs to your cell phone and social media and your work, culture and all of this, right, there are so many layers of what it means to be a human right now. And I often find that Reiki really addresses the soul level, right, it helps that inner truth come forward so that we can be aware of it, so that we can connect to it, so that we can recognize that deeper truth that's happening in us and oftentimes, when we hit that wall that we were talking about, it's like there's this place where Reiki can support us, but it can't help us truly fully process our trauma. It's not going to help us unravel our limiting beliefs and things. It can help us in the emotions that come from that. It can help us remember that those are false narratives. It can help us unravel our limiting beliefs and things. It can help us in the emotions that come from that. It can help us remember that those are false narratives. It can help us awaken to that deeper truth.

Speaker 1:

But there is an aspect of our human journey that often requires different modalities or a slightly different perspective in order for us to find the healing in it right. There's a reason that here at Moon Rising we couple shamanism and coaching and Reiki because when we have those mixed modalities we can really call on the different aspects of who you are and help your mind unravel the stories that it's telling, help your mind and your neural networks process through any traumas that you have had so that your body, your physical body, isn't remembering. And Reiki is an amazing pathway to support that, to work with the nervous system to process the anxiety, while we're using other modalities, like shamanism or coaching, to help you really unravel all of those knots that may have been tied in your mind, in your human state as well. And it's really interesting to me when there is a little bit of this tension around. Well, shouldn't Reiki be able to just fix everything right? Shouldn't Reiki be able to just, you know, clean slate done, I'm healed again, and on a fundamental level? Yeah, because it's again and on a fundamental level? Yeah, because it's again. It is that path to enlightenment right? Reiki can do all things, because it is all things Again. It's not like there's this separate energy that we're calling on to heal you. It is reconnecting with the truth of all that is.

Speaker 1:

But because there are so many layers to what it means to be human right now, sometimes we need additional support to be able to fully relax into that connection.

Speaker 1:

And that's part of why what I was saying earlier about how there are some of those Buddhist principles like not connecting to the story of what you experience that don't really work for a lot of Westerners, because we are taught, we're kind of trained growing up, to rely on our minds, to rely on our intellect and our logical understanding of things and if we just hands off, absolutely no story, full detachment, for a lot of people that either becomes really frustrating and activates their mind more, or it goes into full dissociation and not caring about anything, and neither of those are that true path to healing and connection.

Speaker 1:

And so I think we have to modify the practices that we're using for the times that we're living in and in a society that does have so much trauma and that does have so much that we hold on to whether we need to hold on to it or not. Right, we carry around a lot right now as humans, and sometimes we need additional support in learning what it means to let go of all of that so that when we step back into the room with Reiki or back into connection with ourselves, it really can be that full awakening to that deeper truth, without the heaviness of all of the extra layers that we may have been carrying around before.

Speaker 2:

Great points, because it is, if Reiki could do it all and it does do it all, but it is. I think it's our thoughts, our own emotions and our like you're saying your mind, your ego that says I have to hold on to a lot of this. And even in our classes and with, you know, coaching and working with clients, I find it so interesting when that concept comes up of releasing and there's just so many people that feels like they have to hold on. It's almost like they're loyal to their pain, you know, and if they don't hold on to it, it never happened, or they can't carry the anger that they carry because they've released it or because they've offered forgiveness, released it or because they've offered forgiveness. And I feel that Reiki does this, has this beautiful gift within itself, this underlining gift of allowing it to be a gentle removal of the trauma. You know, it's like when you go and you have a session, we're not sitting there saying, okay, we want to go, and what happened to you when you were five or what happened to you when you were 10. You know, we're not digging in the past. We're allowing whatever in the past that's ready to be come to the surface and be released, to come to the surface and be released, right, but we do it with the permission of allowing ourself to say I'm ready to let this go.

Speaker 2:

And so when I watch clients that are ready to release it, it is amazing how quickly they transform. And it's literally watching the transformation happen on such a deep, deep level and they almost miss it themselves, like they almost don't even see the change and the growth in themselves until like a few months later as they're still progressing through their healing process or getting into alignment with where they want to be. And then there's just like I can't believe how much my life has changed. You know, we can witness it from the external part, but sometimes we miss the change within, and so and that's coming back to that busy mind, busy life kind of aspect and so it really is like when we're doing this work, recognize that it has such a deeper purpose than what we even give it credit for. And so I do think, because we're not digging at the scars, we're not pulling up all of these painful memories, that it almost loses some of its luster and I'm like, no, no, it doesn't, because the softness, the gentleness of it that when you leave and you feel like you're floating out of the room, you feel like even if you cried, even if you're pulling out all this stuff, even if you're releasing on the table so much, but you get to leave feeling balanced and whole.

Speaker 2:

What a gift that is. Without feeling like you, you just uprooted all this baggage and now you got to go home and process it energetically. We just did that and now it's going to continue to work on you for the next few days and then you're going to come back for another session if that's part of your, your healing process and plan. And so when you do that, then it's like another layer gets peeled off and another layer, and another layer, until you get to this place where you're just like, oh, none of those triggers trigger me anymore. None of that even has the same pain effect that it used to have. And so that's when we get to really see the difference.

Speaker 2:

And for me, like recognizing even just a five year span and how I've changed and how you know we've grown, I've grown and everything. And knowing when I started Reiki, shamanamanism came in, because that was the part of my, my process, of who I was going to become right, and I do believe that I believe there's modalities that show up because we're meant to be a practitioner in that, or there's a deeper learning and lesson in it. Bypass the things that are showing up for you Definitely, go out and feel into what is available. But I find it so interesting that Reiki is definitely the threshold to that. Like we're walking through this, the spiritual gate of transcendence, you know, like we are having that because there's a version of me that no longer exists, because I chose this pathway.

Speaker 1:

And the flip side of that is, you know, when you are in that session and you walk out and you feel like you're floating, it's like every time you come back into that awareness it comes with this understanding that if I can feel like this now, I could feel like this all the time, there's nothing stopping me from choosing this path versus choosing a different path, and it becomes this really. It can be this really empowering practice where you realize again where are those stories or the thoughts or the emotions that are holding you back? And can you use those moments where you have had that really deep connection with Reiki and maybe a layer's been peeled off or you've had that moment of recognition of that deeper truth and connection with that energy flowing through all of life, where you can recognize how can I come back to that more? What do I need to release to come back to that more? And it kind of becomes this almost like a carrot on a stick for your mind, right Of like, if we keep following this path, if we keep walking, then we can feel that peace again, we can feel that connection again. And the more you do it, the more you're training not only your energy to understand that it's okay and it's safe to let things go, but you're also teaching your nervous system that those things are true, that this kind of feeling, this kind of connection is accessible for you. And I think that's where the idea of Reiki being a practice really comes in, and I think this is part of why it can be so important.

Speaker 1:

You know, we hear Reiki practitioners all the time talk about everybody should have their Reiki level't really true to the original forms of Reiki. The idea that everybody should be able to find that connection in themselves with this Reiki energy, I think is absolutely fundamental to, like you were saying, this kind of wave of spiritual awakening that we're seeing and that we're going to continue to see. Because, again, when you connect with Reiki, it's not that you're connecting with a different energy, you're connecting with life itself, with the universal energy of all things, and that acts as a catalyst, because as soon as that spark is lit in you, every time you keep coming back and back and back you're kind of fanning that spark until it becomes this beautiful flame, right, this light within you that can then guide you to what's a different modality that maybe you're feeling called to you or what job do you want to have or what is your soul contract or your soul path in this lifetime? However, you perceive this right, that flame within can help guide you to your next step, no matter what that is for you on your healing journey. But we have to have that awareness first. We have to have that ability to sit and look within, and that really is what Reiki is really good for. And it also it makes me laugh because we had I think it was a couple weeks ago I was coming back from New York for the from the Northeast Reiki retreat and I had a flight that got terribly delayed.

Speaker 1:

It looks like I was going to miss my connection and have to spend the night in the airport, and I was like I don't want to do that. So I posted a post in our Facebook group and I was like, okay, reiki people, let's Reiki the plane If you feel like it, see if we can, you know, bend time a little bit and help the plane make it on time. And we had somebody comment and say I don't think that's how this works. Isn't Reiki a healing energy?

Speaker 2:

And it's like, no, you know, like, yes, like total limitation right there. Yeah, it's like yes, it heals.

Speaker 1:

It's amazing. It's incredible. That's what we commonly use it for in the West. But no, reiki is all things, it is time, it is space, it is the atoms that make up everything. It is all that is.

Speaker 1:

And I feel like that's often that depth that a lot of people feel like they're missing when they come into a Reiki space where you know they have that awakening, they have that catalyst, and then there is that moment of you know, there are the people that it transforms and they keep coming back and they keep seeing the difference in all the things and it's amazing.

Speaker 1:

And then there are the people who do it once and they're like it didn't really work for me.

Speaker 1:

Or maybe they do it a couple of times and they're like but it's not getting at that deeper issue. I think it's often because we're missing that depth there of what it really means to step into a space with Reiki, whether that's your self-practice, whether that's with a practitioner, that ability to come back into connection, knowing that the more we can drop into that connection whether it's five seconds or five hours or five years, doesn't matter the more we return again and again and again to that connection, to that flame within us, the more it's going to become easier, but also safe and normal and really help us have that aha moment of I don't have to hold on to all of this stuff. I do get to let it go. It's safe to let it go, it's okay, nothing terrible is going to happen, the world isn't going to fall apart. I can let myself be caught in that net of universal energy by realizing, you know, having that experience, and then realizing if this is available to me now, it can be available to me always.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's always available to us and that is literally the most beautiful thing is just connecting with it, being present with it and in not limiting it. You know you literally can Reiki anything and everything and set the intentions to do so so that the energy will follow that and, yes, does it have a higher consciousness when we're, you know, doing providing Reiki on. You know in a practice and everything in a session, that we're not the ones that are leading it, but we're setting the intentions for what they need, so that that's going out into the universe and how that energy is coming through but it's going to work on there for their highest good. And so, even when you're just sitting in nature and connecting with Reiki and you're you're hearing the birds coming through and you're connecting with the clouds and you're just connecting with Reiki and you're hearing the birds coming through and you're connecting with the clouds and you're just connecting with the energetic knowing and being of the earth, that is Reiki. Right. And even if you're doing it in meditation and you don't have, you're not attuned to Reiki, you're still connecting to it on some level. You're still connecting to it. It's just being activated on a deeper level when you are attuned, and I am one that does believe. You know, if we all were Reiki, if we all became attuned to it, what amazing world we would have, right? If every single human has Reiki and actively and intentionally and consciously knew it, our world would be completely different.

Speaker 2:

But I think there is a lot of bias and ego that kind of gets in the way and people don't believe and they don't trust and they don't know until they do, and it's kind of like until you know. It's like anything that you're learning, right, you don't know it till you learn it. And that's the same thing with Reiki. It's like you don't know till you feel it. You don't know till you experience it. And then when you do, it's like wow, experience it. And then when you do, it's like wow, and it's not because every person is meant to become a practitioner. It's like you were saying if it's to guide you to where you're supposed to go in life, if it's to guide you in your healing, if it's to guide you into this position and this profession and all of that, if it's to help you to soften your heart where it's been hardened and that's what you receive out of it, then let that be what you receive out of it.

Speaker 2:

It's not about you know some people. They put so much pressure on themselves, thinking well, I'm supposed to be doing it this way. It's like no, I mean, there's certain ways. You want to do the symbols and you want to be, you know, hollow bone as much as you can be to practice on others, but you also need to see where it's showing up for you and not chase the practitioner that you are being trained by, because that's their journey and their path with Reiki. So allow Reiki to reveal your journey and your path for yourself, and that's where the magic comes in. That's where that intention can really be strong, because now you're seeing your world completely open and expand in so many different ways and it's because you're in alignment with yourself.

Speaker 1:

And that process really involves giving ourselves permission to have the journey, to let it be our own, because when we get, like you were saying, attached to well, this is how it has been done, or this is how my teacher does it, or this is how Izzy does it, or this is how Chantel does it, or any of those things, we've inherently lost that personal connection. And I think that in and of itself is such a powerful thing the ability to recognize that, yes, reiki is that universal life force, energy, but as a unique point of consciousness, as this spiritual being that you are having the human experience that you are, you have a unique and personal connection with the Reiki energy. It's going to flow through you and manifest through you differently than it's going to flow through or manifest through anybody else, because you are this unique point of consciousness and when we can give ourselves that permission to be where we are on our journey and let whatever shows up for us be okay, that can be so incredibly freeing, especially when we take that leap from things like the hand positions or these more prescriptive things that were often taught in our original Reiki trainings. They are amazing building blocks and they are really powerful teaching tools and they are beautiful for helping us get comfortable with the practice.

Speaker 1:

But if it comes to the point where you start to feel that call to take things a little more intuitively, to let things flow a little bit more, to use a symbol in a way that you haven't seen anybody else use it before, et cetera, et cetera, do that Because that Reiki, that fire that you've lit within yourself, is trying to show you your next step forward. And the more that we allow ourselves to follow that guidance, to follow that wisdom, especially when we have the ability to discern is this coming from my mind or is this truly that deeper part of myself leading me forward? And that is again where our Reiki training and that practice of reconnecting and reconnecting and letting go and letting go is so important, because it does give us that discernment of is this little voice coming from my mind or my ego, or is this little voice coming from that deeper part of myself? If it is coming from that deeper part, that flame that you've lit within, the more you follow it, the more aligned you're going to become, the more in flow you're going to feel, the more connected you're going to be because you're choosing that spirit, that deeper part of you, over the more superficial mind, ego level of ourselves. And that's really what we mean, right, when we talk about setting our ego aside in Reiki. It's not that the mind is bad, it's not that the ego is bad. It's just that those levels of our being are kind of added on top of our spirit, on top of our soul, on top of that deeper truth, and when we can separate ourselves from it and realize that we're not our mind, we're not our ego, connected and flowing and able to experience things like compassion and unconditional love and trust and surrender and truth and all of those things, none of those experiences that so many of us are yearning for in our day to day, right, that feeling of peace or calm or connection or compassion or love or whatever it is, none of those come from the mind, and I think that's why a lot of people often end up feeling lost on this path and why Reiki does serve as such a spiritual threshold for so many people, because it's this moment of realizing I'm not my mind and those experiences that I'm looking for don't come from trying to get rid of my mind, they don't come from trying to fight my mind, they don't come from trying to unravel everything so that I finally get a straight shot through. It comes from being able to set your mind aside for a moment and connect with that deeper aspect of you where that love and peace and compassion is already existing. And Reiki is that pathway.

Speaker 1:

The ability to connect with Reiki energy is that catalyst that allows us to drop into that deep connection and then use that to guide us forward and say what is showing up for me. You know what is next on my healing path, and can I let that be okay? Can I come into such a deep trust in this energy, in this universal life force in my spirit and my soul? Can I come into such a deep trust of that that I'm willing to follow it, even if it takes me somewhere that nobody else has gone before? Am I willing to trust this energy more than the minds of myself and everybody else?

Speaker 1:

Is really that question that we start to come down to when we have that urge to, you know, let go of the hand positions or try a new modality or follow the intuitive nudge? It's that question of what are you going to trust more in this moment, your mind or your soul, knowing that neither choice is good or bad. It is what it is. That's the beauty of free will, right. But Reiki helps us have the awareness to discern those different parts of ourselves so that we can truly use our free will in that way that we have the freedom of choice to say this is my mind, this is my soul, which path do I want to follow in this moment? And I find that Reiki is really the catalyst for that kind of awareness that then lets us choose which path we want to follow, moving forward.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it gives us so many opportunities and it really is. In the end, like you're saying, it's our own discernment. We get to choose right. It's our free will to say, yes, I want to take this path or I want to take that path. And I think, in the end, with Reiki is it's going to guide you, whether you choose it now or you choose it later, it's going to guide you. It's going to loop you all the way back around to where you're going to fall in love with it. Anyway, at some point.

Speaker 2:

You know, and I always find, like people who who are really involved in like say, in the beginning they come, they they're attuned, or they come just for sessions and then they leave, and then they come back, like months later, a year later, they show back up and they're just like I need to start this journey. It's because it's like this calling within them and so at some point you're going to surrender to it because it is, I believe, such a deeper energetic level than our mind. Our mind is what's trying to control the situation and say, no, you can't leave me out of it, you can't. You have to analyze it, you have to understand it, you have to see it for all the components. And Reiki isn't that, it's really just trusting and it is connecting to our intuition. So I love when you're talking about that, like how deep and how more expansive our intuition becomes right, because you start to truly trust it and then knowing that what we're doing is happening in the quantum as well, right?

Speaker 2:

So it's like there's so many layers and depth to what Reiki is, and so it's knowing that what we're doing here is happening in the etheric realm. It's happening on the spiritual body. It's happening on the physical body, the mental, the emotional. It's like all aspects of ourselves are literally being aligned through all timelines, space and dimensions. So it's like aligning us through all of our different past lives. It's aligning us in this current lifetime. It's helping us to release and peel back all of the layers that need to be, and it's just so powerful, but I think because it shows up, like I said earlier, in a softer gentler way sometimes it feels like it's not as powerful as maybe breathing deeply or taking in plant medicine and being like an instant force through of opening.

Speaker 2:

But there are times too, with even those, that I feel like I've had clients come in and I'm having to close up certain aspects of themselves, like their crown chakras, like you know, or whatever. And so there are aspects to all modalities. I feel that we just need to learn and trust and study them before we jump into them and with that it's just kind of again doing your discernment. If you're called to go to other modalities, do your research first. Don't just jump on the bandwagon because suddenly it's this popular thing to go.

Speaker 2:

Do you know, and everybody is doing plant medicine or everybody's you know, doing DMT or whatever. It is like research. It first to make sure that this is something that's really going to connect with you so that as you are integrating these medicines, you are healing through them and you're able to release what needs to go, because that is should be the end goal. It's not just to go and have that experience, but the end goal should be that you are helping yourself to release a lot of trauma and past pains, and that is the goal itself with all healing modalities. But if there's another agenda, then that agenda can actually have a really negative side effect.

Speaker 1:

And, you know, I do wonder if we could even take that a step deeper and say that, in addition to that goal being to release the trauma and the layers and the limiting beliefs, to release the trauma and the layers and the limiting beliefs, that we're doing that in service of the ability to fully experience this lifetime, we're doing that in service to this ability to be present, to have joy, to experience love and connection, to really live our lives instead of living in fear, instead of living in these kind of bonds that hold us back. That all of that releasing and the shedding and the healing and everything that we're doing, like we talked about in last week's conversation, is in service of not that one day we're going to be healed and perfect and complete and then we'll get to live life, but that in the process of that releasing and that constant recalibration that we do as human beings, even in that we're living and we're experiencing and we're able to have that deep connection to all things. And this is such a powerful point too of so many of us now know, if we didn't before. We now know what it means to feel isolated right, especially after the COVID isolated right, especially after the COVID era right. A lot of us now know what it means to feel that sense of disconnection from ourselves, from other people, from the world.

Speaker 1:

Can you imagine how healing it would be to be able to feel that deep connection to all things, in a safe way, to know that you are part of that net of love and compassion and truth and flow? That is the universe? Because you are, and that's what Reiki offers us. It offers us that opportunity to serve as a catalyst to help us release, to help us to process through our trauma, to help us let go of all of the things that are holding us back, so that we can really fully experience this life while we're living it, instead of looking back one day and wishing that we had been more present.

Speaker 1:

We get to do that now. We get to live. We get to smell the flowers and feel the air, and watch the fire and hug our friends and connect with Reiki energy and feel that sense of bliss and play in the spirit realm and go for walks and do our jobs and be creative and all of these amazing, incredible things that, if we're holding on to all of these layers, we don't really get to experience. We end up kind of thinking our way through life instead of experiencing our way through life and for me, that is one of the most powerful invitations of Reiki. Is that invitation of yes, you can drop in, you can feel connected to all things in a safe and loving way and you can really experience what's right in front of you fully and completely our way through life versus feeling our way through life right and experiencing our way through life.

Speaker 2:

And even with saying that Reiki is a gentle way, there are sessions that you know and experiences that we have where they're not. It is like sometimes you're opening that Pandora's box, if you will, and everything comes up and that's where you know we do experience different things, like the dark night of the soul and we're working with our shadow and all that. But even with that, being in the energy of Reiki is still a softer way of going through those experiences, because it's giving you a tool, it's giving you an energy to work with that's going to help you to process all the things that you're going through. It's going to help you to transmute it. It's going to help you to release it. It's going to help you to transmute it. It's going to help you to release it. It's going to help you to integrate it right, especially if you have a mentor, if you have a teacher who is guiding you through that. That's there to help you with those tools right and to process through that energy. And so that is my hope for everyone who does go to Reiki is that they do have that support system, and so it is.

Speaker 2:

If you are working on yourself and you need somebody else to assist you, make sure that you find something you feel completely connected with, even if it's like I'm going to have a session here and there or I just need to talk, or whatever it is like. Find somebody that you trust, that you can provide your information to, and that's going to be able to hold space for you to be able to release the things that you need to. But knowing that this is really about us connecting in this lifetime, even though we talk about all the other layers upon layers. It is us coming and connecting to our lifetime now, and that's because that's why we're here. We're here to experience our five senses. We're here to experience love in a physical body and to know like to eat the foods and taste the things and touch and see, and to really embody everything around us and to embrace it. And that is what life is about.

Speaker 2:

And when you are thinking about it, when you are processing it oh, being all up in the head sometimes we really miss so much because the mind is going to take over and say you just need to live like this, you don't need to look anywhere else Just go, go, go, go. And then before you know it, you look up and it's five, 10 years later You're like shit, where have I been? And it's almost like you're like shit, where have I been? And it's almost like you're waking up from a dream like where have I been all this time? You know, you're just kind of on autopilot and I think Reiki brings us out of that energy.

Speaker 1:

You're no longer on autopilot, right, you can see all the things through different lens absolutely, and and so I think that really is our invitation for you today, after listening to this conversation, is can you allow yourself to connect with Reiki?

Speaker 1:

Not to achieve healing, not to balance this chakra, not to do X, y, z, but can you let yourself connect with Reiki in a way that feels like it allows you to drop back into the experience of life, whether that's, like Chantel said, just sitting by a tree and listening to the birds and listening to the nature and connecting in that way, or that's doing some Reiki in the shower and feeling the water wash over you, or going for a walk, or sitting in meditation and doing a self-Reiki session, whatever it is for you, can you allow Reiki today and this week to be a practice that brings you back into the present, so that you are experiencing life, rather than confining Reiki to this healing modality that helps us in XYZ way, or that we want to work in XYZ way?

Speaker 1:

Can you really open yourself up to for the greatest and highest good, and may this experience help me drop in so that I am actually experiencing what's in front of me. What would you add to that, chantel? And highest good, and may this experience help me drop in so that I am actually experiencing what's in front of me. What would you add to that, chantel?

Speaker 2:

I think you said that perfectly and I'm really hoping that people take that invitation to be able to drop into it today, this week, to fill into it. And even when you're giving all your examples, I was thinking, even if you are in a cubicle right raking your workspace, give yourself that little bubble of energy that wraps around you wherever you work so that you are always surrounded by it. And if that's raking your computer, if you're on the phone all day, whatever you do for work, rake it so that you are leveling that up. You're bringing that energy forward so that you're fully connected all the time and that's going to bring you present, that's going to bring you here and now.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, feeling that connection to all things, so that deeper energy beyond the surface level stuff that we collect in the human form, but that deeper life that is in all things. Can you let yourself connect to that this week? And that's our invitation for you? So I hope that this episode gave you something new to think about.
